Special BVHS Dance Team Announcement: The dance team will be competing at the Kewanee Dance Invitational today (Sat, Dec. 18th). The girls are scheduled to dance at 10:33am and 12:07pm. Coach Blake and the girls have worked extremely hard! Good Luck! Go Storm!

Mrs. DeReu’s English classes finished up their graphic essays, which required them to still have elements of a traditional essay for analysis of the texts for their respective classes. Students worked hard, and these are a few of the outstanding ones.

BVHS Saturday, Dec.11 Basketball Recap: Freshman Boys lose to RF 43-40. Varsity Girls with a nice win over Fulton 44-30 at the Storm Cellar. Varsity Boys lose a close game to Ottawa Marquette at Hall. Special Congrats to Carter Salisbury for being named to the All-Tourney Team!

Tues. will be an 8-period semester review day. Wed. will be finals in periods 1, 3, 5, & 7. Thurs. will be finals in periods 2, 4, 6, & 8. Exempt students have been notified by email. WACC students will leave at 11:30 all 5 days. All students will attend school on Mon. and Fri.

Mrs. DeReu’s English 2, English 3, and English 3 Honors classes are working diligently on their graphic essays. These require students to have a title, thesis, supporting points, evidence, and explanations for how the evidence relates to their thesis. Students put creative twists on them by adding color and symbol(s) that contribute to their thesis.

Mr. Schisler's Leadership Class put a wrap on their Holiday Gift Drive this week. Students raised over $2,500 in support of our area families! Thank you to the students, staff, community members, and local businesses who made this effort a success.

Mrs. DeReu’s English 2 class created their own blackout poems using pages from To Kill a Mockingbird, a novel they just completed. Blackout poetry requires students to find words on a page of a prewritten text and develop their own poem. Then, they black out the rest with an image or design.

The following Bureau Valley High School students were named 2022-23 Illinois State Scholars: William Gross, Ashley Nordstom, Madison Vick, Aliza Rogers, Brady Higgins, Eileen Myong and Grace Zeman.

Tonight's varsity boys basketball game vs. PC at the Hall Tournament is CANCELLED. The Varsity boys will be back in action on Wednesday at Hall vs. Rock Falls at 6:30. The varsity boys will practice immediately after school this afternoon (3:15-5:15). Go Storm!
