Congratulations to Liana Ledergerber who won the DAR Good Citizens Essay Contest!! She read her essay and was honored at a banquet today.


Physical Science students are doing experiments in calorimetry. When the hot metal block is placed in the cool water in the calorimeter, both substances come to a thermal equilibrium. The amount of heat transferred can be calculated using the change in the temperature.



It has been a fun two weeks of roller skating in Physical Education. Students enjoyed obstacle courses, racing, limbo and more! 🛼

The Scholastic Bowl team went 2-0 in rounds 12 and 13 of Conference play, with wins over Rockridge (150-120) and Sherrard (210-120).
🍲 Staff Appreciation Lunch 🍲
Part of celebrating National FFA Week is giving thanks. FFA Members made 5 different types of soup to show their appreciation for the AWESOME STAFF AT BUREAU VALLEY! While members were cooking the soup others wrote hand written notes of thanks to the staff. The staff loved the soup!



🍔 BV FFA Culver's Share Night 🍔
Princeton Culver's so kindly offered to host a Share Night for BV FFA to celebrate National FFA Week! Thank you to everyone who made it out to benefit the FFA! A special thank you to Culver's for their continued support of our FFA program and the agriculture industry. We intend to take the donated funds and make a pollinator and native grasses area!



Due to inclement weather for some teams, tonight's IHSA Regional at Bureau Valley High School will be postponed to tomorrow night. Thurs., Feb. 23rd will be Hall/Princeton at 6 and Kewanee/Stillman Valley at 7:30. Regional final at 7 on Fri., Feb 24th.
FFA Week Books for Third Grade
BV FFA gifts a copy of Farmer George Plants a Nation to every third grader in the district in celebration of National FFA Week. Each book is written in by a student in Miss Johnston's Introduction to tell the third graders a little more about Ag! Then students in Miss Jacobs' Ag Business class take the books and read with the third graders!

Congratulations to Toby Behrends (Extemp) and Josie Edlefson (Prepared) who will advance to the District Public speaking contest.
Congrats also to Leann Oleson for placing at the 7th Overall Greenhand in the Vet Science contest.

5 BV FFA Members interviewed for their IL State FFA Degree! Congratulations to these students!
6 BV FFA Members competed in the Section 3 Proficiency Competition. 4 of the members received first and will compete at the district level on March 8!

In addition to school, all extracurricular activities for Bureau Valley High School students have been canceled for Thursday, February 16, 2023. A final decision on the girls regional game between Princeton and Monmouth-Roseville at BVHS will be announced later today.

Physical Science students are wrapping up the mousetrap car project. Cars were initially engineered to cover the maximum possible distance, then reconfigured to travel at the maximum possible speed.
